* Armstrong was stripped of the Cruiserweight Championship in
September 1992 at
Clash of the Champions XX for not defending the championship within the
demanded 30 day period.
WCW quickly announced that a tournament would be held to crown the new
Cruiserweight Champion.
The tournament, which was scheduled to take place in early 1993, never took
place.
The championship was then considered defunct until it was revived in March 1996.
** The victory appeared to be just what Lane needed to boost his
career into overdrive. But then out of nowhere, WCW stripped Lane of the
Cruiserweight Championship without ever giving an explanation. In an equally
baffling move, WCW then gave the title to Psychosis -
again, without offering explanation.
*** With the win, The Artist was beginning to make a name for himself.
Then WCW heads Eric Bischoff and Vince Russo stripped all WCW Champions of their belts on April 10, 2000, in an attempt to "relaunch" WCW.

WCW Cruiserweight title becomes a WWE title after WWE defeats
